Read on for four reasons why your clients deserve to experience the magic of the Yukon:
Chase the northern lights
The Yukon’s dark winter sky, free from light pollution, is the perfect backdrop for one of the most amazing natural phenomena in existence – the aurora borealis. There’s more than one way to see this majestic lightshow. Take shelter in a prospector-style wall tent once used by gold seekers and trappers with Northern Tales Travel Service. Bundle up and step outside for the grand performance, as vivid, colourful ribbons cascade across the sky. Alternatively, stay at a wilderness lodge, such as the Northern Lights Resort and Spa, where you can take in the views from your glass-fronted chalet, or soak in an outdoor hot tub while the lightshow streaks across the night sky.
World’s greatest road trips
Yukon’s Alaska Highway nudges alongside the UNESCO site of Kluane National Park, a staggering collection of Canada’s five tallest mountains and the largest ice-fields outside the North and South poles. The Dempster Highway takes you far off the beaten track along an unsealed road that passes through diverse geological terrain through the iconic Tombstone Territorial Park, and on past the Arctic Circle to Canada’s northern coast. In fact, it’s the only way in Canada to cross the Arctic Circle by road – a bucket-list road trip for sure!
There’s nothing quite like the glistening-green current carrying you away while surrounded by the stunning raw beauty of northern nature. The many meandering waterways of the Yukon, including the mighty Yukon River, provide canoeing and kayaking options for all ability levels. Prefer to keep your feet on terra firma? The Yukon’s abundant trails are a hiker’s dream come true, with even the shortest, easiest routes rewarding you with sweeping vistas of expansive rivers, glaciers and pristine alpine wilderness.
Take a flightseeing excursion for an incredible bird’s-eye view of Kluane National Park and Reserve. Circle Canada’s tallest peak, Mount Logan, and witness the ethereal majesty of the world’s largest non-polar icefields from thousands of metres above. Keep the camera poised as you glide over the expansive park where grizzly bears, moose, sheep and mountain goats live in abundance.
