In fact, if you’re looking to combine your reinvigorated passion to get moving with your dreams of seeing the world, a list of the best countries for running, swimming and cycling has been released by global footwear company SportsShoes.com.
Drawing on more than 100,000 TripAdvisor reviews for the three activities, the rankings may inspire you to adjust your next holiday so you can jog, freestyle and bike in some of the world’s most picturesque surroundings.
And if your budget doesn’t stretch to an overseas adventure in 2023, the good news is that Australia appears on all three lists.
Running – USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Canada and France
According to the reviews gleaned from TripAdvisor, some of the world’s best locations for a run included New York City’s Central Park, Gran Canaria in Spain and Jardin du Luxembourg in France.
Australia ranked in ninth place on this poll, with the top three places to run ranked as the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, Noosa National Park and Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

Australia’s miles of scenic coastline saw it rocket up the charts in terms of the world’s best places for a swim, with locations including Exmouth and Airlie Beach.
Overseas, the Mediterranean hotspots drew in the crowds and the reviews, namely Barcelona, the Canary Islands and Cote d’Azur in the French Riviera.
Cycling – USA, Canada, Italy, United Kingdom and Germany
Alaska’s Tony Knowles Coastal Trail was unearthed as a leading location to take out the two wheels for a spin, closely followed by Vancouver’s Seawall Route. Rounding out the podium places was Le Mura di Lucca in the romantic Italian village of Tuscany.
Lake Burley Griffin appeared again as Australia’s top spot for a bike ride, followed by Centennial Park in Sydney and the River Torrens Linear Park Train in Henley Beach, Adelaide.
