A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 had only been in the air for around 20 minutes when it turned around and prepared to land back at Sydney International Airport on Sunday.

The aircraft took off as scheduled at 1100hrs local time with 474 customers and 27 crew.

A Singapore Airlines spokesperson confirmed Flight SQ232 turned back to Sydney around an hour after take-off due to a technical issue.

“The Airbus A380 aircraft landed safely back in Sydney at 1242hrs (local time) on 7 April 2024.

The technical issue was resolved and the A380’s departure was captured in the image above at around 430pm.

“SIA sincerely apologises to all affected customers for any inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson said.

Customers were provided with refreshments and all necessary assistance.

“The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority.” the airline said.
