With #eurosummer blowing up Kiwi socials with 2.9 million views in the last 30 days on TikTok, the people of New Zealand are getting prepped to jet off another summer in Europe, with a 5% year on year increase in bookings to Europe via Webjet driven mostly by under 35s (42% of all bookings).

According to Webjet booking data, the top spots for 2024 include:

  4. Amsterdam
  5. Manchester
  6. Athens
  7. Frankfurt
  8. Barcelona
  9. Milan
  10. Dublin

During the cost of living crisis, alternate UK ports to London are also proving popular with Glasgow and Birmingham making the top 20 list, at 13 and 20 respectively, alongside Manchester in 5th.

There’s been a 5% increase in demand for flights to all European destinations booked during the period 1 July 2023 –  17 May 2024 for travel 1 June 2024 – 31 August 2024 compared to flights booked during the period 1 July 2022 –  17 May 2023 for travel 1 June 2023 – 31 August 2023

Age splits of bookings to all European destinations for travel 1 June 2024 – 31 August 2024:

  • 18-25: 15%
  • 26-35: 27%
  • 36-45: 13%
  • 46-55: 18%
  • 56-65: 18%
  • 65+: 9%
