Check out 11 Aussie Autumn Adventures

AS WE come out of summer and the landscape changes, now is the time to plan an Aussie adventure.

Central New South Wales offers guests the chance to visit world-renowned gardens, forage for food, cycle to vineyards, enjoy outdoor art trails and attend one of the many vibrant events and festivals.

Central NSW Joint Organisation has compiled 11 autumn adventures:

1  Sunrise hot-air balloon ride

For an eagle eye view, take off from Canowindra on a daily sunrise flight, with breakfast and champagne included. The Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is on from April 12-16.

2  Cycle to the food and wine villages of Orange

The Orange and Villages Bike Trail is a 360km, six-day cycling journey to wineries, cafes and farm-gates, including villages in Cabonne and Blayney. Bring your own bike or hire an e-bike.

3  Forage for mushrooms

For foodies, autumn is the best time to forage for mushrooms in the pine forests of places such as Hampton, Jenolan and the Vulcan State Forests. Then enjoy your forest finds on a picnic at Mayfield Garden, where the Autumn Festival runs until April 25.

4  New cycle trails around Parkes

Parkes is the latest region to expand its cycling holiday routes. Choose from 20-80km loops, explore the local landscapes and see attractions including ‘The Dish’.

Condobolin is the home of a quirky bush exhibition with around 20 Holden Ute vehicles used as a canvas by artists in a celebration of outback life.

7  Iandra Castle Open Days

9  Sculptures by the Bush

Visit the historic villages of Carcoar, Millthorpe and Neville for this quirky annual event featuring sculptures which dot the landscape in the form of hay bales, farm art and scarecrows. Until April 23.

MORE THAN 30 food culinary producers will be showcasing their wares on TrailGraze 2023 later this month.

Held on April 22 and 23, the event will cover wine, cider, craft beer and spirits, cheese, meats, seafood, condiments and confectionery.

Held throughout north-west Tasmania, TrailGraze invites some of Australia’s best chefs and beverage professionals to discover the region for themselves ahead of the event.

Building on last year’s ambassadors, which included the likes of Luke Burgess, Massimo Mele and Analeise Gregory, this year’s event welcomes newcomers Lilly Trewartha, Danielle Alvarez, Mike Bennie, James Welsh and Sabina Newton.

These highly regarded chefs and beverage professionals have created a series of recipes highlighting some of the champions of Tasmania’s food bowl with drink pairings to match. These special recipes will be showcased at farmgate locations throughout the event weekend.

More than 1,000 people enjoyed last year’s event, which will again feature workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, tastings, live music and exceptional food.

TrailGraze is free to attend, but attendees will be required to register ahead of the weekend at trailgraze.com with the chance to win a package including flights, accommodation and car hire for the weekend.
