About Scrubba Wash Bags

Our Story

In 2010, seasoned traveller, Ash Newland, was faced with the difficulty of packing light and staying clean on a trip to Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa. Determined to do more with less and help conserve the environments he visited, Newland developed the prototype Scrubba wash bag.

Fast forward fourteen years, the Scrubba wash bag has benefited over 400,000 travellers on their adventures, and in that time, Scrubba has attracted investment from Shark Tank Australia, as well as launched several innovative travel products. Scrubba’s ultimate goal is to help travellers everywhere limit their ’footprints’ and expand their memories.

Scrubba bags and the environment

The Scrubba wash bag is the eco way to wash clothes while travelling.  Each Scrubba wash bag is designed to last for years and saves travellers an annual average of 1000 litres of water and 7.5kg of carbon – perfect for minimising their travel footprint.  It also allows campers and hikers to dispose of grey water well away from water bodies to avoid polluting lakes and rivers. In addition, Scrubba is committed to implementing responsible environmental and social practices and has officially joined 1% for the Planet and has become Climate Neutral Certified in the last year.
