A flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne returned to its origin on Thursday evening due to a technical warning.

VietJet has confirmed VJ081 departed at 11:20, however shortly after take-off, the captain detected a technical warning and made the decision to return to Tan Son Nhat airport for inspection, prioritising maximum flight safety.

“The aircraft and all passengers safely landed at Tan Son Nhat airport at 1:21 p.m. (local time), where immediate inspection was conducted. Passengers resumed their journey to Melbourne at 4:15 p.m. the same day (local time).

“The captain and cabin crew communicated with passengers professionally. We appreciated their swift response in returning the aircraft for inspection, which instilled confidence, as we eagerly await to continue our journey with a new aircraft,” Mr. Minh said in a comment provided by the airline.

“Air return for technical inspection is a standard procedure in air transportation to ensure passenger safety. The airline appreciates passengers’ understanding and has promptly informed and supported those affected by the situation,” it said in an update.
